Former Miss USA Cheslie dies after jumping from high-rise building in New York
Winner of the 2019 Miss USA pageant Cheslie Corrinne Kryst has been reported dead.
Multiple local US media reports say the beauty queen jumped to death from a Manhattan apartment building on Sunday morning, January 30, 2022.
The American television presenter model was reportedly pronounced dead by police at the scene.
Her family has since confirmed her death in a statement.
In the statement, her family stated that “In devastation and great sorrow, we share the passing of our beloved Cheslie. Her great light was one that inspired others around the world with her beauty and strength.”
The statement added that “Cheslie embodied love and served others, whether through her work as an attorney fighting for social justice, as Miss USA and as a host on EXTRA. But most importantly, as a daughter, sister, friend, mentor and colleague – we know her impact will live on.”
Aside being a model and television presenter, Cheslie was a former Division I athlete and North Carolina attorney.
She won the Miss USA pageant in May, 2019, and competed in the Miss Universe pageant that year.
She was born on April 28, 1991 in Jackson, Michigan, United States of America.
Police reportedly said Kryst’s body was found at approximately 7 a.m. Sunday in front of the Orion building, a high-rise on West 42nd Street in midtown Manhattan.
