Video: Police officer remanded for sexually harassing woman during car search
A Ghanaian police officer, General Lance Corporal Victor Antwi Yeboah has been remanded into police custody for allegedly harassing a woman sexually.
He was remanded by the Sunyani District Court following his arrest.
A viral video had shown the officer sexually harassing his victim in a car.
He was charged with assault contrary to Section 84 of the Criminal Offences Act (Act 29) and Indecent Assault contrary to Section 103 of the Criminal Offences Act (Act 29.)
Presiding over the court was Eric Denning.
Although the suspect pleaded not guilty to the two charges, he was remanded to reappear on Wednesday, December 1, 2021.
The officer, No 51530 General Lance Corporal Victor Antwi Yeboah, according to the Ghana Police Service, was stationed at the Regional Operations Unit, Bono Regional Command.
In a statement signed by the Director-General of the Ghana Police Service, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Kwesi Ofori, the suspect was “arrested for violating the dignity of the victim and is currently assisting the investigations.”
In a viral video obtained by African Entertainment, the police officer, Yeboah was seeing touching the thighs of an unidentified woman in a car.
The woman was heard asking him: “what are you doing? What are you’re doing?”
He replied the woman initially that “you are naked, you are naked.”
Then she pointed out to him that “you are touching me, you are touching me.”
In the 10 seconds video, he boldly told the woman that “you are naked and I will touch you.”
He harassed until her dressed pulled up and private part was shown as she had no underwear on.
